Beals and Thomas provided design and permitting services for a 21-acre soccer complex. The construction of the youth soccer complex included two synthetic turf soccer fields and two grass soccer fields, and a 150-space gravel parking area. The design included an accessory structure to house concessions and restrooms serviced by an on-site sewage disposal system. Special issues for consideration involved an on-site capped landfill, vernal pool, and restoration of a gravel mining area.

Beals and Thomas also designed the subsurface drainage system and base materials for renovation of Holliston High School’s Kamitian Field to accept synthetic turf. The field had been renovated as a natural grass field but could not withstand the repeated use of multiple sports. In two years, the field was deemed unacceptable for use. Beals and Thomas coordinated with synthetic turf suppliers and designed the subsurface drainage system and base materials for the project on a fast-track schedule. The field was successfully completed and was playable during an extraordinary rainfall event in October 2005.
