The EMC Corporation "Flagship" project involves the design and development of a 950,000 square-foot corporate campus that consists of over 1.5 miles of roadway and 3,300 parking spaces. Critical to the project's success was the design and approval of a 83,000-gallon per day wastewater treatment plant, which provides reclaimed water for irrigation, cooling, and toilet flushing. The on-site solution to wastewater disposal and water reclamation, complemented by the development of a high-yield on-site water well, significantly reduced dependence on municipal systems, and was the first major commercial project in Massachusetts to reclaim treated wastewater for use as a water supply. In addition to the Hopkinton campus, Beals and Thomas has provided professional engineering services in support of EMC Corporation's Bellingham, Milford, Westborough, and Southborough campus development projects.
