Covering 623 acres of woodlands, fields, and marshes along the Charles River in Natick and Sherborn, the Massachusetts Audubon Society's Broadmoor Sanctuary serves as a haven in Metrowest Boston for multiple species of New England flora and fauna.

In an effort to increase access to the wetlands without disturbing this fragile environment, the Audubon Society engaged Beals and Thomas to design a series of elevated boardwalks and observation decks to enhance the educational and passive recreational opportunities available to the general public.

A helical pier support system, a series of manually installed and environmentally sound buttresses, was utilized to minimize the stress on weaker soils and to limit impact on vegetation and soils by eliminating the need for heavy construction equipment.
